Mark E. McBeth is the Director of Learning and Leading with Keystone Learning Services. Mark served elementary through college age students as a teacher, counselor, principal and educational consultant, including
four years with the Kansas State Department of Education. He has chaired and served on numerous statewide leadership committees and has presented at national and state conferences on his cutting-edge leadership perspectives.
In 2007 Mr. McBeth was hired as the interim “turnaround” principal for Dodge City Middle School in Dodge City, Kansas. It is during his tenure with this school that Mark developed in conjunction with James Crum, a first year math teacher, the “3-Tiered Distributed Leadership Model”. The model is used as prevention, early intervention and a support framework to ensure students, teachers and leaders are learning.
Mark has written a fast selling Corwin Press book; “The Distributed Leadership Toolbox”, and has published in national journals. He designed and directed statewide leadership Academies and facilitated high-quality professional development program for schools and districts on state improvement list. As a principal and consultant Mark has successfully implemented the principles associated with 3-tied interventions (RtI).
McBeth received his master’s and specialist degree in Educational Administration and Supervision from Western Illinois University. He lives in Topeka, Kansas.
Mark E. McBeth's passion and experience in distributed leadership are shaping school, district, and statewide leadership initiatives directed at providing educators with the knowledge and tools needed to enhance and change practices.
Mark works primarily with school superintendents, district-level leaders, principals, assistant principals, and teacher leaders. However, he has worked extensively with school improvement teams, school faculties and professional organizations.
He translates current leadership research into a practical framework to help educational leaders improve their practice and positively influence school wide performance.
