Full-time Speech Language Therapist for the 2012-13 school year.
Other opportunities for Speech Therapists working for the Keystone include: regular dialogue with colleagues in SLP departmental meetings; involvement with ongoing Keystone teams, such as assistive technology, mini-team members for Autism Spectrum Disorders and Traumatic Brain Injury; and the opportunity to participate in staff development opportunities both on-site as well as state-wide workshops. Keystone bases SLP caseloads upon several factors including number of students, severity of students, scheduling, and number of buildings.
Applicants need to have a Kansas License. We are able to hire SLPs who will be completing their Clinical Fellowship Year, and we do provide a CFY Supervisor as well as mentoring for beginning SLPs or SLPs new to our agency. |

| Assistant Director of Special Education |
| |
To provide leadership, supervision and coaching to Keystone Learning Services staff in order to assist the Director of Special Education, the Executive Director and the Board of Education to maximize the effectiveness of special education services to schools and students.
Work with the Jefferson and Atchison County Community School Districts in the special education inter-local to accommodate the unique learning needs of students with exceptionalities.
I. Communication
Objectives: Provide the Director with appropriate information to assist him/her in effective decision-making.
Supply information to superintendents and principals of Keystone schools in order to assist them in provision of special education services that are of good quality and in compliance with state and federal regulations.
Provide information to the Keystone staff in order to maximize their effectiveness in the provision of special education services.
Activities: Communicate at least weekly with the Director of Special Education regarding the status of special education services, programs and personnel within the assigned districts.
Develop a written weekly schedule, which provides for visitation to the assigned Keystone local school districts.
Communicate frequently with local district administrators concerning local programs and personnel serving their districts.
Provide staff development for building principals on special education regulations, trends and issues in special education.
Propose to the Director agenda items for the Superintendents Advisory Council regarding special education.
Assist the Director by collecting data from local districts to be used in preparing required reports and making suggestions for modifications to the local Comprehensive Plan policy handbook.
Develop and present information on Keystone and local programs to district and Keystone personnel, service clubs, and the media as required by regulations and when requested by individuals or groups.
II. Program Evaluation
Objectives: Research the current status and needs of Keystone local district special education programs and relation to the Comprehensive Plan for Special Education and relevant state and federal regulations and judicial interpretations.
Assist the Director in developing recommendations for the Board of Directors concerning major program revision, changes in job role description of special education employees and policies and procedures necessary to insure compliance and program quality.
Activities:
Monitor the compliance of all special education programs in assigned districts to the prescribed special education processes, procedures, and documentation as set forth in the Comprehensive Plan for Special Education and state and federal regulations.
Provide information regarding the nature and level of any non-compliance to the Director.
Participate in the development and maintenance of special education policies and procedures and disseminate those procedures to staff in such a manner as to assure their appropriate implementation.
Assist with the development and implementation of a plan for the evaluation of Keystone special education programs as required by the Kansas State Board of Education (KSBE).
Assist with preparations periodic (on-site) audits of special education programs as scheduled by the KSBE and or the Federal Office of Education, Special Education Programs.
III. Staff Supervision and Evaluation
Objectives: Collaborate with building principals in the evaluation of Keystone staff in assigned districts. Facilitate the continued growth of Keystone staff through the provision of technical assistance and feedback. Provide input for recommendations concerning the continued employment or non-renewal of Keystone staff members.
Activities: Assist the Keystone staff by providing suggestions regarding program improvements, clarification of regulations and policies, resources, mediation of conflicts, and general problem solving.
Develop a schedule that will provide for frequent contact with and observation of teachers.
Collaborate with building principals in the evaluation of Keystone staff in assigned districts. Approve requests for leave.
Complete the summative evaluations and necessary documentation on Keystone special education instructional staff in assigned districts within the appropriate timelines as required by state statute and Board of Education Policies.
Schedule individual conferences with staff following evaluations as prescribed by state statute.
Complete formative "clinical supervision" assistance plans when needed.
Provide input for the annual evaluations of Keystone clerical staff.
IV. Recruitment
Objectives: Confer with other administrative staff in determining Keystone special education program staffing needs and developing recommendations. Assist in recruiting applicants for special education positions.
Activities: Provide the Director with information to be used in projecting future personnel needs.
Assist in reviewing credentials of applicants and making arrangement with local district administrators for interviews.
Participate in interviewing and selecting candidates for positions.
Identify and justify the need for paraeducators in the assigned districts and facilitate the hiring of the most qualified candidates for these positions.
V. Staff Development
Objectives: Collaborate with other Keystone administrators in planning and implementing a program that will enable all staff to have the necessary skills to carry out their assigned job roles and will assure special education services that are of good quality and incompliance with state and federal regulations.
Collaborate in planning and delivering staff development to administrators and general educators on their respective roles in the implementation of state approved special education programs.
Activities: Collaborate with other administrators in determining staff development needs of Keystone staff.
Assist in arranging staff development programs that will meet the needs of Keystone certified staff and paraeducators.
Present staff development programs as needed.
Collaboratively review individual request to attend conference and determine which requests should be approved.
Attend regional and state conferences at the request of the Director in order to obtain information relevant to Keystone special education programs.
VI. Other
Carry out any other duties assigned by the Director. |

| Special Education Teacher - Functional & Adaptive Curriculum |

Keystone is currently seeking a teacher to work with functional students with behavior issues. Staff should have experience of working with students with autism, and adaptive curriculum. Staff will serve as a team leader for assigned students, including arranging IEP reviews and other planning meetings; and communicating on a regular basis with parents, local district personnel and bus drivers. Staff will also collaborate with other school personnel in conducting functional behavior assessments, planning and implementing positive behavior interventions for students.
Job may require teacher to work with other agencies, families. Teacher may need to provide physical assistance and helping with daily living skills as needed. |

| Special Education Teachers - Elementary, Middle and High School |

Keystone is seeking full-time Elementary, Middle and High School Special Education teachers for the 2012-13 school year in several school districts.
Keystone hires bright, energetic staff who are willing to try new innovative practices. The special education staff at Keystone have a close relationship with the districts they work in daily. Most of the staff become active not only in Keystone but their district's activities. All of the school districts have adopted some form of MTSS and all of the districts are working together to provide high quality services for their students.
IEPs are written online using WebKIDDS, with a staff member providing individual training on writing and running an IEP meeting, along with curriculum and behavior support. Keystone has a continued mentoring program with new and returning staff. |

| Keystone Learning Services is an Interlocal; it provides the special education services to seven school districts (Valley Falls, Jefferson County North, Jefferson County West, Oskaloosa, McLouth, Perry/Lecompton and Atchison County Community Schools) and runs other programs not special education such as Parents as Teachers, State Grants, and Professional Development. Keystone provides services to the school districts that surround Lake Perry. The school districts served are within a 30 minute drive of Lawrence, Topeka or the town of Atchison. Keystone's main office is located in the town of Ozawkie (on the banks of Lake Perry). |
